Keep your eyes peeled here for developements... Forum host Shadow Shack acquired a 86 Rebel that runs but not much more can be said about it...so he decided to chop it up! |

(waiting for film developing...) |

As was... >>> It runs, but that's where that story ends. |
|
<<< Rebel Rat BIke! Minus fenders, headlight, and other street legal neccessities. The seat isn't mounted to anything, just poised there for good looks, charm, and grace. |

New Exhaust System! When I brought the bike home, the previous owner sawed off the OEM mufflers just in front of the forward baffles. I finally got around to spending a bit of mad money on this and sprung for a set of fishtail mufflers, and I lopped off the rest of his fart cans. Making the cuts along the "jog" of the OEM headpipes, I was able to position the new mufflers into an upswept pattern. |

Praise the Lowered! I sent the shocks out to Pete at SOTMC.com for a bit of the "Chop It & Drop It" treatment, and as you can see it dropped an inch off the tail. Not a huge difference, but it doesn't bottom out and it also leaves room for other mods I have in mind back there, like a fatter tire. Next up: well I'll just have to surprise ya there. I still have to get a grip of other parts. But I do have a line on some frame raking... |
|
"Legends Start With a Modest Beginning" ...and so it begins! There it is, a sweet frame raked to 44 degrees by Ken over at Jack's Rebel Warehouse. Now that I have a good frame in my possession, it's time to swap everything over from the donor bike. |
|
Chopper Mock-up Here it is in "rolling chassis" mode, sort of. Needs longer forks to maintain the proper ground clearance (remember, the pipes hang beneath the frame on these bikes). Looks like the calculations are dead-on, 7" over tubes are in order after measuring the gap on the stock forks in relation to the upper tree. |
|
Wired & Hung! I scored a like-new wiring harness on E-Bay, the ol' 86 had some weak, worn, and hacked off connections that caused a lot of minor issues every time it was ridden so this will ease things in the long run. Not to mention I'll have doubles of all the expensive replacement items later on down the road if I ever need them (ignition module, coils, regulator/rectifier, etc...hundreds of dollars EACH at the dealer). I also picked up a set of ape hangers, Flanders 13 inchers. Maltese Cross mirrors round it off.

Longer Forks, Rolling Chassis Sits perfectly now |

Motor slung, it's 3/4 complete! Dang, if that don't look sweet |
